healthy homes
Together, we can help thousands of families across Colombia gain access to decent housing.
Social transformation to improve public health and address the housing deficit

Colombia faces a challenging outlook based on data about access to dignified housing. According to the Population and Housing Census conducted by the DNP, DANE, and the UN, there is currently a 36.6% housing deficit.
Likewise, the impact these homes have on health is a concerning issue due to the precarious conditions in which many of them exist, as the materials used in their construction and the way they are set up can cause diseases and allow them to spread easily.
Given this context, the Healthy Homes program is firmly committed to changing the reality of thousands of families across Colombia by improving their homes. To achieve this, joint work with partner companies and communities—each doing their part—is essential to make this transformation possible.
Beyond upgrading homes to improve both function and appearance, this transformation also delivers significant health benefits. According to the 2009 study Housing, Health and Happiness, having a home in good condition leads to an 81% reduction in the prevalence of anemia, a 78% decrease in intestinal parasites, a 52% increase in mental health, a 49% reduction in diarrhea episodes, and a 36% boost in children’s cognitive development.
Ultimately, by creating more healthy homes, we contribute to improved public health and fight the housing deficit to stop its growth. We also help thousands of families across Colombia obtain a dignified home where they can feel safe and happy.
