- From its operation in Puerto Rico, supplied exclusively from the Zona Franca Argos, in Cartagena, the cement company provided nearly 10,000 tons of cement for the project.
- The company supplied 85% of the material used to construct the over 700-meter-long pier at Lighthouse Point in the Bahamas, which will receive more than one million visitors a year.
Argos, a leading producer and marketer of cement and concrete in the Americas, has played a crucial role in constructing Disney’s new civil works at Lighthouse Point on Eleuthera Island, Bahamas. With an approximate investment of USD $250 million, this project is part of Disney Cruise Line’s expansion plans and is expected to welcome more than one million visitors annually.
Argos provided approximately 10,000 tons of cement for the construction of the over 700-meter-long pier, accounting for 85% of the total cement required. This cement was shipped through exports from its Puerto Rico operation between 2022 and 2024, sourced from its Cartagena operation. Likewise, it guaranteed compliance with the strict durability and resistance standards necessary to withstand the marine conditions and the constant flow of passengers.

The project, which also includes a restaurant area, stores and cabins, is envisioned as a solution to the increase in Disney Cruise Line’s fleet of ships. By 2033, the fleet will grow from four to seven vessels, and the company’s passenger rate is expected to reach record levels. The pier, with its promise of contributing to the ecological, sustainable, and environmentally protective development of the island, also holds the potential to significantly boost tourism and the local economy.
Another detail about the pier’s construction is that thanks to its location almost 1 kilometer from the island, it avoids damaging the coral zone by not requiring dredging (excavating the seabed to create navigation channels). This innovative design allows ships to enter deeper waters, and passengers can use an electric streetcar to move along the platform.
“We are extremely proud to have been part of this landmark project. Our participation in the construction of the Disney Cruise Pier not only demonstrates our commitment to excellence in execution but also our ability to deliver large-scale solutions that meet the most rigorous standards of quality and sustainability. The completion of this project is a tangible testament to our unwavering commitment to building relationships based on trust with our customers.” Gabriel Ballestas, Argos’ Trading General Director

“The collaboration with Disney Cruise Line on this project, through our partner American Bridge LLC, has been an enriching and rewarding experience. Having been selected as a cement supplier reinforces our position as a reliable partner capable of meeting the challenges of large infrastructure projects. We are excited to see how Lighthouse Point will become a leading destination for travelers from around the world.” Samy Skaff, Argos’ Trading International Marketing Director.
“For Argos Puerto Rico and all its co-workers, it is very gratifying to be part of a challenging and important project in which synergies with the International Commercial, Shipping and San Juan Terminal teams were combined. Our allies American Bridge chose us again thanks to their confidence in our products and services, and the proximity and, above all, competitiveness of our business. We will continue to multiply the GREEN LIGHT in the Caribbean from the ‘Island of Enchantment’.” Jose Guillermo Araujo, General Manager Argos Puerto Rico.
